Her next birthday is fast approaching on December 3, but Julianne isn't worried about the aging process.

'I can remember being twelve and everyone was talking about the year 2000 and it seemed so far away,' she said. 'I remember thinking, "I will be 40 then" and it just seemed so old - I couldn't even think about it; it was utterly shocking.'

Adding: 'But when you get there it's so much less serious than you anticipated. The changes aren't as vast and it all happens very gradually. Getting older is not as bad as you think.'

Her secret to keeping her porcelain skin radiant is simple. 'I was lucky enough to have a very fair-skinned mother who instilled in me the importance of sunscreen,' revealed The Hunger Games star.

The Emmy Award winner also shared, 'We wouldn't go to the beach until after three o'clock and we would do things like walk on the shady side of the street to avoid the sun. People are so much careful now, but back then it was rather unusual.'

Lately her favorite beauty discovery for her complexion is 'face oils!'

'I love L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Glow Renewal Facial Oil and L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renewal Golden Serum,' she shared. Both items cost approximately $25.

Another easy tip the star swears by is keeping her body hydrated. 'Everyone says it, but I drink a lot of water,' she said. 'I also can really tell the next day when I eat too much sodium so I try to avoid it.'

When asked what other ways she keeps her figure staying fit, Julianne told the publication: 'I don't like noisy workouts. I tried spinning and didn't like it, it's just too loud for me.'

'I do better when I am working out in quiet, which is why I like yoga. I especially like classes that don't have mirrors. It's a time to let go and let your body drop into itself.'

She added that she 'also works out at [her] house, do interval running and lift light weights.'

About the celeb-loved trend of going on healthy juice cleanses, Julianne advised don't bother.

'I did a juice cleanse for the Golden Globes one year. I think I did it for three days,' she said. 'To be honest, the only weight I lost was in my brain!'

The mother-of-two imparts her beauty wisdom to her 12-year-old daughter Liv.

'For my daughter, we talk about different things as they relate to beauty,' she gushed. 'I always tell her not overpluck her eyebrows - I remember overplucking mine in sixth grade, and I guess everyone does!'

And when it comes to her almost teenage child to start using makeup, she advised Liv that a little goes a long way.

'She is allowed to play with makeup, but I also remind her how beautiful she looks without it. I also try to remind her she can dress modestly and still look lovely.'
